Challenges
When Grow Therapy came to Siege Media, its blog was generating steady traffic through educational content on therapy and mental health. The posts attracted links primarily due to their informational value, but most lacked the kind of referenceable statistics and original research that earn coverage from high-authority publishers. That gap was limiting the site’s ability to build the link profile needed to compete for high-value terms.
The referring domain picture reflected this. Grow Therapy held a strong domain rating of 77 at the time and showed gradual site-wide authority growth. However, link volume at the individual page level was limited, and the quality of referring domains was inconsistent.
Competitors BetterHelp and Talkspace both held more authoritative link profiles, and Rula had recently outpaced Grow Therapy in link velocity. Competing for terms like “online therapy” required more than good content. It required content that major health and news publishers would actually cite.
AI-generated search posed another challenge for them. Grow Therapy was appearing in fewer LLM citations than BetterHelp, Talkspace, and Rula, signaling that its authority signals weren’t yet translating into AI visibility. As patients increasingly start their mental health searches in tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity, that underrepresentation carried real business implications.
Growth summary
Siege Media launched the engagement in fall 2025 with a dual-track strategy combining high-intent organic content targeting bottom- and middle-funnel queries with a digital PR program built around original research.
The organic content program focused on queries that map directly to how people seek mental health care. Rather than broad awareness content, Siege Media prioritized specific, high-intent searches like “online therapy that takes insurance,” “best online therapy,” and “best online psychiatry.”
Content produced during the partnership targeting those queries now drives meaningful blog traffic each month. Online therapy that takes insurance pulls 1.9K monthly organic visits with a traffic value of $23.1K, making it one of the top-performing pages across the entire Grow Therapy blog.
On the digital PR side, Siege Media produced a series of survey-based campaigns designed to generate coverage and links from health, news, and lifestyle publications, including:
- Back-to-school mental health survey
- Mental health insurance coverage report
- Mental health statistics
- Mental health trends report
These pages have collectively earned links from more than 50 referring domains, including publications with domain ratings in the 60s and 70s. The mental health trends post alone attracted 245 backlinks from 30 referring domains.
The cumulative effect shows up in Grow Therapy’s referring domain profile. From October 2025 to June 2026, the site’s total referring domain count increased by more than 1,060 domains (30.5% growth in eight months). Domain rating ticked up to 80 over the same period. Organic traffic grew 11% in under six months, reaching 218,400 monthly visits by April 2026, with traffic value peaking at $361,834 per month.
The authority-building work is also moving the needle on AI visibility. According to data from Peec AI, Grow Therapy’s LLM visibility grew from 11% to 43% over the course of the engagement, nearly quadrupling its presence in AI-generated responses for relevant mental health queries.
